Fr. Patrick Boland O.S.B.
Fr. Patrick is a monk and priest of Subiaco Abbey, a role he takes with utmost reverence and dedication. His journey to Subiaco began in September of 2005, when he moved from Macon, GA, where he had been working as a Campus Minister at Mount de Sales Academy. He previously worked as a parish administrator and youth director for San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church and School in Switzerland, FL, with the Diocese of St. Augustine. He is originally from a small town in Pennsylvania outside of Erie, PA, and sold life insurance for 5 years. He says that he is still in the life insurance business; eternal life. After making his Solemn Profession in 2010, he worked in the Religion department at Subiaco for one year before attending St. Vincent Archabbey and Seminary in Latrobe, PA, to begin his studies for the priesthood, specializing in Systematic Theology. After graduation, he was ordained at Subiaco Abbey by Bishop Anthony Taylor in 2015 and has worked in various capacities at Subiaco Abbey and Academy. His current assignment is at the Coury Guest House, where he serves as the Guestmaster and Director. He is the State Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus in Arkansas and assists the campus minister of Subiaco Academy in the celebration of the sacraments and retreats. Fr. Patrick’s academic journey is as diverse as his professional one. He holds a Master of Theology from St. Vincent’s Seminary, a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, OK, a Bachelor’s in Communication/Public Speaking from Arkansas Tech University, Russellville, AR, and two Associate Degrees in technical fields; Medical Laboratory Technician and HVAC-R Technican. It is the balance of work and prayer, the divine office and living in community, that strengthen Fr. Patrick in his vocation, but it is the offering of sacraments and preaching that he cherishes most about his service to the Church. He says it is our mission at the Coury Guest House to assist and enable people of all faiths to seek out and grow in their relationship with God so that they can carry the light of Christ and the Word to people in their lives.
